Taking the first steps to establishing your Baby’s Routine.

Claire
get asked about routine a lot in my messages- some parents find it daunting and question if they are doing it right.
So here are my steps to begin:

EASY CHART:
As early as at the hospital, make this basic little chart in a notebook.

If you want to go down the line of excel spreadsheets (and some do!) go for it- but if you keep the information on your phone, your partner won’t be able to access it if you are sleeping.

SIMPLICITY:
Keep your notes brief. No need for massive descriptions. You want it so simple that if a stranger walked in and picked up the notebook, they would be able to understand it.

FOCUS ON FEED TIMES:
Your feed time is the beginning of the feed and keep that feed within that hour. If you want your baby to start on a 3 hourly routine, the next feed is 3 hours from the START of feed, not the end of it. 3pm-next 6pm.

Breastfeeding is obviously different, as baby will need to be clusterfed at times, but even by writing down the times and how long they feed on what side of the breast, you may begin to see the baby’s natural pattern emerge.

By keeping records like this from the beginning, you can see clearly if baby is taking more milk more frequently, which can indicate growth spurts.

I have more information and detailed routines in my “ROUTINE 🧸” Highlight.

Share with your friends expecting babies so they can start off on the right track from the get go👌🏻
